Kind of disappointing because I enjoy fantasy and I like fairy tale re-interpretations. I certainly liked the idea behind it, but I wasn't enamored with the characters and the humor seemed too forced to me. ' I thought I would enjoy this book more, but I guess it just wasn't my thing. ' o my word these books are VERY good! couldnt put them down! mystery, comedy, and fantasy, all in one! ' - Claire, The voices were well done and it was entertaining, but a bit on the young side for me. ' It's a clever premise.that all the fairy tales of the world are actually true and that all the characters live in the New England. The premise is cute - (view spoiler) - and reminds me quite a lot of the Fables series by Bill Willingham. ' I quite liked this first book in the series. ' I really likes the fairy tale meets crime novel plot. She's so excited I'm reading a book she likes. ' Reading this on the advice of my daughter, Clare (9). ' I enjoyed this book, a great wee opening to the series getting to know the characters and the drive of the series :-) ' - David, There are only so many ways to put Snow White, Shere Khan, and the Big Bad Wolf together into one community and still sound original. ' This had a lot of similarities to the Fables graphic novel series, which I guess shouldn't be surprising considering the fairy-tale/fable/legend background material. By inferring I could tell how each scene, or how each character would have been like just through little description it gave me, enough information that I needed to know. For one reading strategy that I used to help me finish this book was to Inferring. 'It was a great book, at most time it seemed sort of childish because its mostly about folktale and fairytale but it actually has a great plot in my opinion when you read it, its like the twist of fairy tales into another dimension. Their first case: a giant is destroying the town and it may have something to do with a boy named Jack and a certain famous beanstalk. Now they must take over the family responsibility of being fairy tale detectives in a town where fairy tales are real. In book one of this bestselling series, the recently orphaned Sisters Grimm find out from their Granny, who they thought was dead, that they’re descendants of the legendary Brothers Grimm.
